    About Budapest

    Useful information for travelers

As travelers say, Budapest is a city you can fall in love with in just one day! This is the youngest capital in Europe, but at the same time with a thousand-year history. Budapest was formed by the merger of two cities – Buda and Pest.

As travelers say, Budapest is a city you can fall in love with in just one day! This is the youngest capital in Europe, but at the same time with a thousand-year history. Budapest was formed by the merger of two cities – Buda and Pest.

It is better to start your acquaintance with the city with a visit to the Buda Castle, which occupies the whole area. It is notable for the fact that there, at a depth of 16 m from the surface of the Buda Hill, there is an ancient underground labyrinth of Dracula. These caves were created by nature itself. In wartime, they were a hospital, and even earlier it was a dungeon, in which, according to legend, Count Dracula himself languished.

Not far from the labyrinth is the Hungarian National Gallery. In the palace where kings once lived, paintings are now concentrated there. The museum’s collection is impressive and includes more than 100,000 exhibits.

Another must-see place in Budapest is the Heroes’ Square. In the center of the square is the Millennium Memorial – this is the figure of the Archangel Gabriel, who stands on the globe in the crown of King Stephen, and in his hand he has the Apostle’s Cross. But the most interesting thing on the square is the colonnade, where bronze monuments to the greatest rulers and folk heroes of Hungary are located between the columns.

Another significant attraction of Budapest is the Hungarian Parliament, the largest and most majestic building in Hungary, located on the banks of the Danube. Inside the parliament, everything is very luxurious and pompous! The heart of the parliament is the domed hall. The main state symbols of Hungary are kept here – the scepter, orb, sword and crown of St. Stephen.

If you do not know how best to get from the airport to the city, then use the services of “Budapest Taxi”.
